Vancouver Island - Mount Washington

Skiing Like A Pro

snow -2 °C

Since landing myself at Vancouver Island’s ultimate Alpine Ski Destination – Mount Washington, I have enjoyed almost a month of snow and outstanding scenery; Views of the rugged peaks of Strathcona Provincial Park, the Comox Valley right across the straights of Georgia to the Sunshine Coastal Range on Mainland BC.

I have experienced cold wintery days with lots of snow and other days where it is like a perfect summer’s day on the mountains, you could ski in a T-Shirt the conditions were so good.

I have developed a slight obsession with skiing and cannot get enough of it.
I am slowly becoming a complete and utter ski bum. I have taken a few additional ski lessons and have also picked up some snowboarding lessons. By the time spring arrives, I hope to have mastered and bettered both skiing and boarding. Any free time I have is spent carving my way around the mountain and hitting a few ski runs rather than down in the town of Courtenay. After all, while the snow is here and so am I, why not take full advantage, right??

Here are some current stats, accumulated thus far:

Total # of Mountain Days Clocked: 14
Number of Ski Days: 14
Number of Snowboard Days: 4
Hrs Spent Skiing & Snowboarding: 43 Hours
Number of Ski Runs Done: 80
Total Costs/Savings:
CAD $1905 / R19 000 / €1416

We have had a week of fantastic weather and good sunshine on the mountain but with little snow, until the day before yesterday when it started again and we received 23cm of fresh powder. Just in time for my off-day's.

Looking forward to more skiing, more boarding and more snow.
